Simon and the whole team have been excellent. We have a very small Pomeranian who suffered a partial tear of their cruciate ligament. Simon was amazing at going through the different surgical options and coming up with a solution that fitted our dog (too small for standard surgery). The surgery and aftercare were excellent and she has made a wonderful recovery. The price was also low compared to what we were expecting from looking at the specialist centre care price lists we found. I’d highly recommend them to anyone.

Having witnessed the surgical prowess and success of the repairs performed on my friends' little dog when she suffered two separate cruciate ligament tears, I had no hesitation in taking my own dog to Kelperland to consult with Simon Ratcliffe, when she suffered the same injuries. As a retired vet myself, I am aware of the complexity of the surgery, but also of what makes very good client service and patient care. I saw excellent levels of both from Simon and the team members that I had the pleasure of interacting with. I consider the surgical work alongside the detailed post-operative support for both me and my dog, to be very good value for money in comparison with specialist secondary referral clinics, and have no hesitation in recommending Simon’s orthopaedic referral services.

Without doubt Simon and the rest of the Kelperland team are gold standard whenever it comes to animal welfare and ensuring peace of mind to the animal parents. I speak from experience where my gorgeous pointer had to have a nasty mass surgically removed from her neck – it needed a big incision to ensure a safe margin of tissue around it. Thankfully the op went well and Simon guided me through the post op period – we found the best way to examine her neck was for Simon to give her treats on his consultation table – this way she put her front legs on the table and stayed perfectly still to be examined! Not only was my dog at peace during this time, but so was I. Everything was clearly explained to me at every stage, so I knew every step of the way my dog was in the best and most capable hands for something very invasive and critically important to go through. I would recommend anyone to use Kelperland vets - they are without question the best at what they do from day to day to serious surgery. All the team are exceptional from reception to the vets and nurses. Thank you!

During the summer, our cat Mabel limped into the house and was still struggling to walk the next morning. A visit to Kelperland confirmed that she had, somehow, torn the Achillies tendon in her hind leg. This presented a doubtful chance of recovery, and even the risk of further injury, unless it was treated surgically. The Kelperland team carefully explained the surgical options, and we were encouraged to ask questions and to take time to choose the next step. We choose the ‘tibio-calcaneal screw’ option which, under general anaesthetic, essentially fixed Mabel’s leg into a straight position that would encourage the tendon to heal. As with any other significant surgery, Mabel’s post-surgery recovery required an extended period of confinement along with regular check-ups, which naturally included a further operation, again under anaesthetic, to remove the screw. Overall, we have been greatly impressed with the professionalism of the Kelperland team and most importantly, we are very pleased to say the surgery itself was a complete success.

I can’t give Simon and Kelperland vet surgery a high enough recommendation. Simon performed cruciate ligament surgery on my 11 year old Labrador, Betsy, a year ago. Her recovery after the operation was amazing and Simon kept checking in on us regularly to make sure everything was going ok. The operation went so smoothly and he took really good care of her when she was extremely nervous going into the surgery. Highly recommend.

We have entrusted Kelperlands with the care of all our pets for many years and they are truly exceptional. Their dedication was especially evident after our cat suffered a serious road accident, resulting in multiple breaks in his leg and additional traumas. Simon operated on him, and despite the complexity of the surgery, we are overjoyed to say our cat has now made a full recovery. Simon even went the extra mile, offering out-of-hours support and providing video consultations to reduce unnecessary stress on our cat. My beautiful rescue dog was diagnosed with luxating patella in both knees. Not only was this heartbreaking as she’s a very active young dog, the potential costs were daunting. Simon and his team at Kelperland couldn’t have been more reassuring and helpful. Simon performed surgery on both of Kipo’s knees (the operations were spaced, allowing for rehab on each) and the outcome has far surpassed expectations.
